It covers a wide range of areas including children and young people’s development, supporting children and young people’s positive behaviour and communication and professional relationships.

It’s aimed at learners working in roles that support pupils’ learning in Primary, Secondary or Special Schools, as well as Colleges.

What will I learn

There are 11 modules to be completed during the year.
The modules cover the wide range of skills and knowledge necessary to be a Level 2 Teaching Assistant. The modules cover a number of areas, including Safeguarding children and young people, understanding how children and young people develop, developing professional relationships, understanding the health and safety requirements in schools and colleges and supporting positive behaviour in the classroom.

How will the courses be assessed?

Over the year, you will submit work which will build to create a portfolio of evidence. This includes written tasks and assignments, Professional Discussions, lesson observations and presentations to the group.

Entry requirements

You should have GCSE/ Level 2 Functional Skills in English in place before beginning the course. A GCSE or Level 2 Functional Skills in maths is also required.
