“I’ve been a Registered Nurse since 1994, working both in the NHS and private healthcare. I have managed nurses and services for 21 years, and my specialities include, mental health services, older persons care and palliative care – both paediatric and adults.

I’m passionate about Health Management as I feel that non-clinical staff who work in both private and public healthcare are underrepresented and that there should be a drive to professionalise healthcare management away from the classic roles of nurses, doctors and clinicians. I want to equip students with career-focused qualifications and empower them with confidence and skills to be effective healthcare managers without being clinically trained.”

Don't just take our word for it...

“I really enjoyed my three years studying at the University Centre and I would highly recommend it. The tutors are fantastic and very supportive, and I was very pleased to be able to continue my studies here for another year doing my PGCE.

Initially, I was worried about getting back into education and learning later in life, after having such a long gap since any previous academic study. However, with the support of my amazing tutors and the fantastic library staff, I was soon able to overcome this and began to make excellent progress in my degree. Childcare worries were also an issue, but being able to study for my degree locally made this much easier.

My degree has allowed me to progress on to going a PGCE and I hope to go into teaching. By going into teaching, I hope to be able to support others in fulfilling their dreams and ambitions."
