A week dedicated to undergraduate students exploring further career options while building connections with employers and post graduate opportunities has taken place with Nelson and Colne College Group University Centre at Accrington and Rossendale College.
It took place as part of Nelson and Colne College University Group’s annual Employability and Careers Week.
With guest speakers covering all curriculum areas hosting sessions throughout the week, students had the chance to engage with industry professionals, ask their own questions and gain a deeper understanding of their chosen fields.
Natalie Palmer, Nelson and Colne College University Centre Curriculum Lead for Education and Business, organised the event, which is now in its second year.
She said: “Such networking opportunities enable students to establish connections with professionals in their chosen fields, often leading to direct employment opportunities either during their studies or post-graduation.
“Notably, one of our students successfully secured employment as a result of attending last year’s event.”
Leroy Philbrook, Partnership and Community Engagement Manager at Positive Action in the Community (PAC), said: “I had the opportunity to speak to higher education students about what PAC does and our employment and volunteer opportunities.
“I was impressed by how smoothly the event was run and the number of students engaged in the day; I must have had more than 30 students who chose to come to my talk.
“It is impressive the number of different university level courses that are offered at Accrington and Rossendale College University Centre, making quality higher education accessible locally.”
